It used to export lots of coal from the forest, trains used to tip the coal direct into the awaiting barges and logs were imported to be made into plywood just up the canal. They used some of it it make the Mosquito bombers in the war. Yes it was a very busy place but as you see only small boats now.
I thought docks was a typo for locks but see now it is a dock. Does it get any commercial traffic these days?

ReplyDeleteBob if you refer to the swing bridge by the old factory, they took it out to repair it. It will be going back soon.
