A FEW MORE WIND DIRECTIONAL INDICATORS

It is getting harder to find the more unusual vanes around were we walk, still the most common seem to be the Cockerel. But we are soon off on some walking breaks, around the Malvern Hills and back on the South West Coast Path in Cornwall. So i may see some different ones in these areas. If i do, i will show them.

FEEDING TIME

It's been a bitter cold day and i made the wrong choice to go and play golf, i was frozen. No fool like an old fool.!!

FOLLOW THE PLOUGH

After a game of golf this morning the afternoon walk only offered one photo opportunity and as i have been doing this blogging thing for a year today ,i thought i would have a spring clean and have a new header.

TINTERN ABBEY

Our walk today was along a section of Offa's Dyke trail ,high up on the English side of the Wye Valley. We walked to a point  that offered views of Tintern Abbey, known as The Devils Pulpit. The abbey was built in 1131 and fell ruin in 1536.  The reason its called the devils pulpit is it's said the devil stood on the column of stone and try ed to  get the Cistercian  Monks in the abbey below, to abandon their religion       Offa's Dyke runs for 177 miles from Sedbury to Prestatyn in North Wales and was the first boundary between England and Wales 

IS THIS A MARSH TIT ?

I am no expert at bird spotting, but i have noticed this bird a few times and have thought it was just another Coal Tit , it's about the same size and colour and is a little sod to photograph, as it's gone in a flash. Sorry about the poor photo quality, but i will endeavour to get better ones

GREATER BURDOCK ?

I think this maybe a burdock, i know it used to take an age to get them out of my dogs fur.

HORSE MEAT UPDATE

After being in the the top field all winter,the four horses have now come down to the top of our garden. It looks as if i will have to start buying carrots again. ..........( the one on the right is my wife)

It has been a dull day today and with a car rally roaring around the tracks in the forest, it has been impossible to go for a walk in the woods.Unless you like fast cars!! This photo was taken a few days ago.

With 1 hour to spare this morning ,i thought i would be a bit selective and only take photos of Jays. Each time i looked away a Jay would swoop in, take the bait and go.Result, frustration and no photos. But i did get one picture, so the hour was not wasted.
