It's windy and raining, it seems a long way from being summer..........and now the days are getting shorter too. This photo was taken last week.

WREN

This was taken some time ago when the wrens were nesting, this bird used to land on this post to sing, so i waited about half an hour and sure enough he landed on the post long enough to take a few photos. Its good when a plan comes together.I just wish all birds would be so helpful LINKING WITH STEWART M @ WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY.

I try when possible not to take photos of birds on feeders and try to get the more natural photos of them, but beggars cant be choosers.

LARGE WHITE

Not 100% sure, but i think this is a Large White, ..... Because its large and its white.

THINGS ON LYDNEY DOCKS

This is the navigation light on the end of Lydney harbour,  now powered by electric
but would have been oil lamp 100 years ago. The docks was used for exporting the coal out of the forest and importing hard wood timber from Africa for use in the making of plywood

This is the pillar that holds the light , very ornate

The old capstan, used to pull the boats in against the tide. The buildings on the other bank are 2 old nuclear reactors, now decommissioned and cased in concrete for 150 years.
