62 years ago my mother took me through the small gate in the photo to school for the very first time, she told me many years later, that 5 mins after leaving me i walked back through the gate heading for home. Last week i went back through the same gate to cast my vote on the E.U. referendum. I could still smell the carbolic soap that we used in those days and it was the place that made me into a vegetarian, the meat in those days was the same as chewing a carpet. LINKING TO THERESA @
GOOD FENCES
Hello, it does feel weird to go back to your old school. I vote in my son's elementary school. Great fence shot. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeletelaughing at your first day rebellion. :) i like the fence curving down the hill.
ReplyDeleteHello!:) What a neat photo of your old school with it's long white fence. You made me smile with your story of how you left through the gate, because on my son's first day of school, he climbed a 4 metre high fence to run home!!!LOL :))
ReplyDeleteCool pictures! Thanks for the share!

What a fun memory of your heading back through that gate as a child to head for home. It looks like a very nice school building and it has a lovely white fence surrounding it.
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh out loud. My mother used to cook meat like that when I was a little kid. She believed that the slightest sign of pink was very unsafe.
ReplyDeleteI had the same, to be a vegetarian. I used to go there, to vote.
ReplyDeletei did laugh whn you said 'chewing carpet' Certianly a good rreason to be a vegetarian.
ReplyDeleteI love your memorie! And the photo and fence is "fantastisch".
ReplyDeleteSuch memories! My son did the same thing, twice, walking about four blocks home after I took him to class. I had to take him to the principals office so he would understand he Had to stay in school :)
ReplyDeleteIt seemed extraordinary to see through the same door after 62 years and then by walking. If you still smells the same geruen again that memorable :-)
ReplyDeleteNice picture.
Greetings, Helma
